India Education Minister Promises Reforms Amid Massive Student Protests

New Delhi: Mounting public pressure over alleged examination paper leaks has pushed India’s government to promise reforms in the country’s education system. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has assured students that their concerns will be discussed in Parliament and that the government is committed to improving the examination process.

The controversy began after reports of leaked medical entrance examination papers sparked nationwide outrage. What initially started as a small online protest has evolved into one of the biggest youth-led demonstrations India has witnessed in recent years. Thousands of students have taken to the streets of New Delhi, demanding accountability and a fair examination system.

In a statement shared on social media, Pradhan said the government is fully prepared to debate the issue in Parliament and address legitimate concerns raised by students. He emphasized that young people deserve transparency, accountability, and meaningful reforms rather than political conflict.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified pressure on the government by calling for a parliamentary debate on the examination scandal. He also criticized the police response to student protests and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologize to demonstrators while introducing urgent education reforms.

The protests have expanded beyond the capital, with demonstrations reported in several major Indian cities. Protesters argue that repeated examination leaks have damaged confidence in the education system and created uncertainty for millions of students preparing for competitive exams.

Political analysts believe the growing student movement has become one of the most significant challenges facing Prime Minister Modi’s government, particularly because young voters represent a key support base. The government has pledged stricter measures to prevent future paper leaks and strengthen the credibility of India’s examination process.
